The Psykhe Team is Growing - Introducing Leanne

Hi, I’m Leanne and I have been working as a member of the Psykhe team since July 2020 as Hannah’s admin assistant so we thought it was time I introduced myself!

I particularly enjoy working with Hannah because I also have an interest in the psychology and mental health fields and I am currently studying for a degree in Psychology and Counselling with the Open University. I started this at the age of 33 years old, having procrastinated for quite some time, convinced I was too old to start a degree!! Spoiler alert - you’re never too old to learn new things even if I that means that you sometimes cry into your wine because you’re approaching a deadline and your assignment isn’t quite right. Just me? Ok!

One of my favourite parts of what I do as an admin assistant is writing and I’m really excited to say that Hannah and I have come up with a plan for 2021 where I will be contributing to this blog. I am happy writing about anything, give me a title or a subject and I’ll write about it but I’m really looking forward to being able to write about topics that I feel passionate about.

My long term goal is to train for a career as a sex and relationship therapist although I’m also really passionate about inclusive and informative sex education that is shame and fear free and inclusive to all sexualities, genders and bodies. I have an Instagram page that I use to promote sex positivity so feel free to give me a follow if you’d like to learn more - @Lea_sexpositive

Like Hannah, I love to learn and alongside psychology and all things sex I’m also fascinated with history and microbiology. In my free time I can either be found with my head in a book or hunting for Tardigrades under my microscope!!

Other loves of my life include but are not limited to, my elderly Jack Russell Terrier, Bella, Star Trek (favourite captain - Janeway!), Barbra Streisand and any animal that belongs to the bovine family. Yes, I am a cow spotter!!

Anyway, that’s me in a nutshell. I hope lockdown life has been kind to you and most importantly, I hope YOU have been kind to you. This has been the strangest year but remember, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t use lockdown to learn how to make the perfect pastry, become fluent in a new language or commit to Joe Wicks’ PE lessons every morning (I hated PE at school, there is no way I am doing it as an adult!!). Personally I spent a lot of lockdown watching the two Addams Family movies on repeat on Netflix because that’s what self care looks like to me!**
