Episode 47: Dr Feyi Obamehinti: On healing from trauma
In this episode of the Psykhe podcast, we’re joined by author, speaker and Minister, Dr Feyi Obamehinti. Feyi is passionate about helping, equipping and serving people. As an educational expert, Feyi uses her expertise to support and provide leadership to educators, local, state and federal institutions in areas of best practices in education and has authored several educational books and a Christian book, Crushed to Restored.
In this week's episode, Feyi shares her experience of being raised by her paternal grandparents in Nigeria and the lessons she's learnt from them - in particular, the concept of personal responsibility. We discuss the importance for a child of having an adult in their life who loves and supports them and demonstrates and vocalises that support. We dive into education as we're both from teaching backgrounds.
Feyi shares advice on how to heal from trauma - the importance of facing and processing the traumatic events. For Feyi this is informed by her Christian faith but she provides a wealth of advice that can be applied regardless of your own spiritual beliefs.
