Episode 76. Depression: On Self-Stigma and Trying to Find Balance
In this rare (nowadays) solo episode, Hannah reflects on her journey with depression. Hannah has lived with depression for over a decade. This has ranged from deeper depressive periods to lower level low mood. In 2017 she realised that for the past 10 years she hadn't really been ok and set out to change that - she wasn't ok with not being ok. It's an ongoing journey to manage her depression (and anxiety). In this episode, Hannah reflects on depression, in particular, what is self-stigma? What impact does it have? What does depression look like? And how is self-help sometimes harmful for depression. She reflects on the balance between being kind to yourself and challenging yourself to make life changes.
